Description
Project background: eSky Group invited Future Mind to collaborate with its in-house design team to elevate the brand's look and feel and enhance the user experience with a fresh perspective. The goal wasn't only to create visually compelling designs that convert - eSky also wanted to leave a lasting impression on customers with every visit. Future Mind were excited to take on the challenge of redefining eSky's digital presence, and got down to work, ready to transform the company's digital channels into absolute showstoppers.
Challenges faced: delight eSky users with a flawless, fresh mobile and web design; develop a scalable design system ready to support eSky's future growth and updates; facilitate A/B testing by creating multiple design variations.
Project execution process: creating an impactful design for eSky required close collaboration. eSky was committed to bringing fresh perspectives into its new look and feel, so Future Mind kicked off the project in a way that encouraged creativity and innovation - analyzing eSky's existing designs, then running workshops to explore UX enhancements, including new features to make product navigation easier and invite customers to explore eSky's full offer. This dynamic collaboration sparked innovative ideas and gave us a clear read on the client's vision for the "wow effect" we set out to achieve.
Future Mind presented eSky with a range of mood boards, fonts and component combinations, iterating until we struck gold: a sleek design blending eSky's signature blue and pink with neutral tones, complemented by modern fonts and icons, alongside an innovative navigation structure designed to streamline the experience and set the brand apart from its competitors.
Building on this new look and feel, Future Mind developed a comprehensive design system for eSky's website and mobile app, aligning with eSky's parallel shift to Figma as its primary design tool. Future Mind facilitated that transition by creating a well-structured, organized Figma workspace populated with reusable components for web and mobile, styling guides, and recommendations for documenting key elements - giving eSky's in-house designers a solid foundation to keep expanding the product while staying true to the brand's established identity and design patterns.
Throughout, Future Mind made sure every design was fully responsive for a seamless experience across devices, and created multiple variations of key screens so eSky can run regular A/B tests. Future Mind reimagined the areas most critical to eSky's business - the homepage and dedicated landing pages for flights, hotels and Flight+Hotel packages (Holidays and City Breaks) - the primary funnels for customer conversions - combining inspirational visuals of dream destinations with sleek, modern interfaces that simplify the booking process and motivate users to pull the trigger on that dream holiday.
Tools and frameworks used: Figma, as eSky's primary design tool; a reusable, documented component library and styling guide for web and mobile; a White Label design-system architecture (per public reporting on the relaunch) supporting multiple brands, including eSky and Thomas Cook.
Project results and achievements: eSky's look and feel has reached new heights, with the redesigned visuals ready for implementation across the group's brands and regions. The company is now equipped with a design that wows users with stunning visuals that inspire purchases, delivers a seamless experience across all devices, and empowers in-house designers to efficiently create new assets based on the design system - an approach found to generate roughly 30% in cost and time savings on future design work.
Lessons learned: investing in a well-documented, reusable design system - rather than one-off screens - turned a single engagement into a lasting, scalable asset. It already pays for itself in design efficiency, gives eSky's own team the tools to keep building on-brand, and set up the redesigned homepage and booking funnels to keep converting well beyond launch.
